Lost in the Details

Being an entrepreneur can be a daunting task at the least. Especially if you're just starting your business and it's you and yourself doing all the work. One day you may be drumming up business (sales) and the next you'll be doing the work (operations) to fullfill the sales that just came in.

The problem is that sometimes entrepreneurs get stuck in the details of the busy work. We're so reluctant to let go of the details because we don't think anybody cares as much as you or nobody else will do as good a job.

First Things First

That's probably true, but there are some things we as entrepreneurs must let go of. Stephen Covey in "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", puts it best when he says that great leaders/managers put first things first (One of the habits). This simply means to prioritize your todo list and stick to those priorities as best as you can.

If your number one priority is to go out and drum up business, don't get stuck in the details of how your ecommerce store works. Get some sales and THEN worry about how it works. I'm a firm beleiver that you must first find the customer, then figure out how to do the work. If you first figure out how to do the work and there aren't any customers, then you've just wasted MONEY.

Time IS Money!

That's right. Your time IS money. As an entrepreneur you must shift your thinking from wasting as much time as you can on the details (like we all did as employees) to wasting as little time on the details as possible.

So, get out of the "lost in the details" mode and into the "let's make money" mode! Stop worrying about how that store works, or how your sales copy should read, or how to get listed on Google. Let the pros do it because we (Web Unlimited) can get it done more efficiently and get you making money instead of wasting it.

Remember, if you're not working ON your business, then who is?
